As a former student at Berklee College of Music with over 15 years of teaching experience, I like to bring a strong foundation in improvisation, songwriting, and technique to every lesson. My approach is rooted in the belief that music should be fun, personal, and empowering. I strive to create an environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves, taking creative risks, and developing their own musical voice.

I work with students of all ages and experience levels, from young beginners taking their first steps into music to adults looking to refine their skills or explore songwriting and composition. Whether teaching private or group lessons, I tailor each session to the individual student’s interests, goals, and learning style, creating a supportive and engaging environment where they can grow as musicians. Lessons can cover a wide range of genres and incorporate songwriting, recording, improvisation, music theory, contemporary rock and pop, and other creative approaches alongside instrumental study.

As a professional musician, I have built a career spanning performance, recording, touring, and music education. I am the founder of BUFU Records and the creative force behind Ben Katzman’s DeGreaser, whose music has received coverage from outlets including Rolling Stone, SPIN, and Stereogum. I have also toured and performed as a guitarist with artists including Guerilla Toss, Mannequin Pussy, and Colleen Green, as well as performing on Volcom- and Red Bull-sponsored surf tours.
